Join the Indianapolis Modern Quilt Guild
September 2026 at Garfield Park Arts Center
The Indy MQG Exhibition will showcase guild members’ wide range of skills and styles through a mix of quilts and accessories. This year’s Exhibition features five categories, some more challenging than others.
Participation was only open to members of the Indy MQG during 2026. Information on joining the guild is available here.
Viewing Opportunities
The Exhibition will be on display at Garfield Park Arts Center from September 8-26 on Tuesdays-Fridays from 12-7pm and Saturdays 12-5pm. There is no admission charge.
Opening Reception
Join us Friday, September 11 for our Opening Reception from 6-9pm. We will reveal our challenge category award winners during this time.
Artists’ Chat
Our September Guild Meeting will be held at GPAC on Saturday, September 19 from 2-4pm, and it will feature an discussion with the artists who entered quilts in the Exhibition.
People’s Choice Award
The People’s Choice Award will be handed out during our Artists’ Chat. Viewers have from September 8-18 to vote for their favorite quilt. Additional details and a link to vote will be coming soon.
Exhibition Categories
All of the quilts featured in the Exhibition will fall into one of these categories. The details below are the challenge parameters our members had to follow.
Garfield Park Arts Center Color Challenge
- Must only use the colors of the pallet, and all colors must be used at least once. Color-matched solids are listed below.
- Pattern fabrics are allowed, but should read close to solid
- No limitations on theme
- Minimum 18” | Maximum 72”
- Top 3 awards chosen by GPAC Staff & eligible for People’s Choice

Checkered Mini Challenge
- Must incorporate a black and white checkered print fabric

- Top 3 awards chosen by the IMS Museum Staff & eligible for People’s Choice
Indiana Challenge
- Must tie to Indiana in some way (fabric/pattern designer, theme, etc.) You’ll explain your connection in the description of your quilt.
- Minimum 18” | Maximum 72”
- Top 3 awards chosen by TBA & eligible for People’s Choice
Open Modern Quilts
- Minimum 12” | Maximum 72”
- No awards given for this category, but eligible for People’s Choice
Open Accessories
- Includes bags, coats, pillows, stuffies, and runners.

2025 Indy MQG Mystery Quilt
- Completed versions of the 2025 Indy MQG Mystery Quilt are eligible for submission to the Exhibition at no charge nor do they count against the maximum submission restriction.
