
Join the Indianapolis Modern Quilt Guild
September 2026 at Garfield Park Arts Center
The Indy MQG Exhibition will showcase guild members’ wide range of skills and styles through a mix of quilts and accessories. This year’s Exhibition features five categories, some more challenging than others.
The following information is an overview for those interested in participating in Exhibition 2026. As a reminder, participation is only open to members of the Indy MQG during 2026. Information on joining the guild is available here.
As the event draws near, we will update this page with information on viewing the Exhibition, including details on GPAC’s First Friday events.
Participation Details
- Members are only allowed to enter one quilt per challenge with a maximum of five quilts total
- Entries must have been made within the past 3 years
- Entries cannot have been shown at a previous Indy MQG Exhibition
- Cost is $15 per entry
- Application doesn’t guarantee acceptance; quilts could overlap while on display
- People’s Choice awarded by attendees voting via Google Form before September 18, 2026; one vote per person; award presented during Artists’ Chat on Saturday, September, 19th.
Important Dates
- Applications Open: April 1-June 30, 2026 (photo of completed top required at time of application)
- Acceptance Review: July 1-20, 2026 (completed photo may be requested at this time)
- Collection: August 1-16, 2026
- Setup: September 4-5, 2026
- Opening Reception: Friday, September 11, 2026
- Artists’ Chat: Saturday, September 19, 2026
- Tear Down: September 29-30, 2026
- Entry Return: October 1-18, 2026
Exhibition Categories
Garfield Park Arts Center Color Challenge

- Must only use the colors of the pallet, and all colors must be used at least once. Color-matched solids are listed below.
- Pattern fabrics are allowed, but should read close to solid
- No limitations on theme
- Minimum 18” | Maximum 60”
- Top 3 awards chosen by GPAC Staff & eligible for People’s Choice

Indiana Challenge
- Must tie to Indiana in some way (fabric/pattern designer, theme, etc.) You’ll explain your connection in the description of your quilt.
- Minimum 18” | Maximum 60”
- Top 3 awards chosen by TBA & eligible for People’s Choice
Open Modern Quilts
- Minimum 12” | Maximum 60”
- No awards given for this category, but eligible for People’s Choice
Open Accessories
- Includes bags, coats, pillows, stuffies, and runners.

Volunteers Wanted
An undertaking this large will take a large group to make it happen.
