May Block Lotto — Economy Block

For our May block we’re making the Economy Block. This is a pretty block that we’ll make special by fussy cutting the center square. Are you new to quilting and don’t know what fussy cutting is? It’s simply cutting intentionally so that your piece features a specific detail or image.

Here are the details:

  • Fussy cut the center square to highlight a specific image or feature
  • Pick one color for the surrounding triangles
  • For the inner triangles, use a light/medium solid or small print
  • For the outer triangles, use a dark solid or small print
  • Unfinished block will measure 8 1/2″

  • For the fabric surrounding the X use solid black
  • For the X fabric, us bright, bold colors – solids or prints
