April 2025 Block Lotto — Disappearing 9 Patch

This block is composed of nine 4 1/2″ blocks. You can choose a combination of solid or print fabrics for a scrappy block.

The only requirements are 1) that the center block be white or white-on-white, and 2) that one of your blocks that does not get cut contain a shade of blue you might find at an ocean beach—such as turquoise blue or blue/green.

For the remaining seven squares, you may want to think about using a complimentary color scheme. . .or just use multi-color scraps.

Block finishes at 12” x 12”.

Bring finished blocks to the May 2025 Meeting

September Block Lotto — The Scrappy X

It’s Block Lotto time!  This will be our last Block Lotto of the year.  Due to unforeseen scheduling issues, we’ll turn this one in at our December Holiday Party, so you have PLENTY of time to make one or two!

We’re making the Scrappy X Block.  It’s another great way to use up your scraps.  We’ll be using Leedle Deedle Quilts’ tutorial.  This makes a nice big 12” finished block.

Follow the tutorial using the following guidelines:
— For the “X”, use prints and solids all in the same color family. Mix it up! This is a great way to use your scraps.
— For the background, use low-volume neutrals.

Link to the tutorial is here:

As a reminder, these blocks will be turned in at the December meeting and the lotto is open only to current, paid members. Any questions? Email blocklotto@indymqg.com.

August Block Lotto — Bookshelf Block

It’s back-to -school time! This month’s Block Lotto is a bookshelf block using a tutorial by Kelli Fannin. Be sure to check out the different layouts she has on the tutorial. These blocks are easily reversed, which makes the finished project more interesting. So if you make multiples, do some each way. These blocks finish at 8″ and would make a great wall hanging or table runner.

Use the following guidelines:
— For the books, use various bright modern fabrics. This block is a perfect way to use your scraps.
— For the “shelf” use a solid or reads-as-solid brown.
— For the background, use solid black – Kona black is preferred, so use that if you have it. It will help the blocks go together nicely. But if you don’t have Kona, no worries – use what you have.
