Aug and Sept block is a leaf, traditionally pieced. These blocks will be turned in at the October meeting. Each roof should be red with a blue sky and green lawn.
Fabrics:
Leaf: a solid or marbled fall color (yellow, orange, brown, red, green, etc.)
Background use a solid or tone on tone, white or off-white
Block Overview The eight-point star is made up of 16 blocks; 12 are half-square triangles; four are just basic one patch. The finished size is 16”
Fabric Requirements COLORS: – Star A & B – 2 values of the same color, or Adjacent colors; Background – a low volume grey/white or white fabric. AMOUNT: – You’ll need no more than 1⁄4 yard of each Cutting: Background – 4 – 4 1⁄2 squares (for corner blocks) 4 – 5” squares (for HST’s) Fabric A and B – 4 – 5” squares (for HST’s)

Assembling: ★ Create 2 sets of A/B half-sq triangles ○ Right sides together ○ Draw a diagonal line corner to corner ○ Sew 1⁄4” from both sides of the drawn line ○ Cut on line ○ Press Open HST; trim to 4 1⁄2” ★ Create 2 sets of A and background half-square triangles. ○ Right sides together ○ Draw a diagonal line corner to corner ○ Sew 1⁄4” from both sides of the drawn line ○ Cut on line ○ Press Open HST; trim to 4 1⁄2” ★ Repeat with color B and background. ★ Press well!!! And assemble as shown.
